    Gunshot detection

Also known as: ShotSpotter, Flock Raven

Acoustic sensor networks that triangulate gunshots and dispatch police — frequently bundled with LPR camera deployments.

    How it works

Microphones mounted on poles or buildings detect sharp acoustic events, classify them as gunfire vs. fireworks/backfires, and report a location estimate to police within ~60 seconds. The two dominant vendors are SoundThinking (ShotSpotter) and Flock Safety (Raven).

    Why it ties to LPR

Vendors increasingly sell gunshot detection as a bundle with LPR. A "Raven" alert can auto-pull plate reads from nearby Flock cameras in the same time window — turning two separate surveillance systems into a unified location-tracking tool.
